    Larry is bipolar, but he’s figured out how to stay level, without emotional extremes, even without the medication he stopped taking eight years ago.

    That’s what this wonderful book is about – how, on a scale of 1-10, to achieve an emotional balance by staying in the 4-6 range as much as you can. It’s quite doable with focused practices and enjoyments built into every day. It involves good and trusted friends who will tell you true if you start to slide.

    I found the book immensely enjoyable as a mental adventure story, an excellent introduction to mental illness itself and the issues surrounding it. Laymen will gain understanding and empathy for a very common problem. My father was bipolar and I sure wish he’d had Larry’s book to read.

It also provides a system of red flags to watch out for using a range of 1-10 on the 4-6 scale for staying balanced.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, no matter what their mental or emotional condition is. It gives practical tools and ideas for living a life that is meaningful and fulfilling.
